Of course. I'm a firm believer in the saying "You learn something new everyday." Every day I have an "ohh" moment, where I realize silly things, like that the word "mob" came from "mobilize." (That was todays) I love moments like that and I feel like little changes, even seeing a literal view of an object from just a slightly different perspective that you had previously transforms your consciousness mildly.
I don't believe that my consciousness is constantly evolving, only my perceptions.
"With more knowledge gained the world seems to grow larger...a paradox?"- WCH
more like growth spurts.
i could go for months at a time with no change what so ever. and than suddenly within a span of a few days i find myself approaching situations in a way i never would have just a month ago
i also find that i question things i wouldn't have looked twice prior to that..
參考: it's a nice thing to go thru.
kinda like growing a new pair of eyes next to the ones you have.
When I have an open mind and see the beauty in different cultures, races, and religions, only then will I be able to say that I have evolved my awareness to see the beauty in everyone.
yes as you become aware of differences in life your knowledge expands therefore you grow,
Consciousness is simple self awareness. It is rather black and white. Either you are aware you exist or you are not. You as a person, or even a personality however can, and if you are healthy, should change or evolve. Personality drift is a term I have seen commonly used. In the simplest sense, it is how personalities change over time. The more interesting way of looking at it though is the causes of these changes. The possible causes are countless. Anything from biochemistry to finding religion. the fact you want to attribute it to consciousness though can narrow it down a bit. My favorite cause for personality drift is learning or enlightenment. there are things you know now that you never knew earlier in your life. This new knowledge can effect your decisions and how you see the world. Of course I am lacking the information necessary to know for sure what you mean, but personality drift as a result of new information can easily be equated to an evolution of consciousness in a less literal sense.
It must. Otherwise you stand still, or actually going backwards, because those around you are evolving. It is like your personal, emotional, spiritual road map, and anything that does not fit has to be adjusted on said map. Even if it takes more than one rethink of the problem, the map 'must' be adjusted. If the map shows a KFC on the corner, but it is no longer there, it is easier to change the map than to force a KFC back into that space.
Peace.
I say no, but if it does, in what form does it begin, and where does the evolution end, what form is it headed towards ?
I certainly see, analyse and think about things much more that I used to in some respects. Mostly I put it down to education and exercising my mind frequently.
But in some ways, I see much less than I did as a child, because my brain is programmed to dismiss certain things and skip straight to certain conclusions now, instead of seeing everything as new and potentially different.
So, yes, I suppose, if that's what you mean.
Edit: Thanks, Liz! I didn't know that (the 'mob' thing, I mean). That sort of thinking is exactly what I'm talking about, too.
