不久我會去巴西,坐20多小時,並跨越太平洋,請問坐aeroplane 跨越太平洋會有幾多輻射??
At latitude of 35 degrees and altitude of 30,000 feet, the raidation dose rate is about 3 uSv/h (micro-sievert per hour). Thus a flight of 20 hours would get a radiation dose of 60 uSv.
For comparision, the dose from a chest X-ray is about 60 uSv.
[Note: "micro-sievert" is a unit for "effective dose", every person on earth receives about 2500 uSv per year from background radiation].
我比較擔心輻射的問題?請問會有什麼後遺症??
A dose of 60 uSv is not a matter of concern. It is just 2% of the background radiation one would receive in a year. There will not be any health problem from such low dose of radiation.
輻射又係咩黎??
Radiation in high altitude flight comes from two siurces, one is from cosmic radiation (i.e. high energy gamma rays and particles from outer space) and the other from solar radiation (energetic particles and strong X-rays from the sun).
