probably Soul Eater for me. Just the characters cant be compared to any other animes, and the storyline is completely original.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, also known as Gurren Lagann. It made me a fan of SciFi!!! It has action, a little but not overly cheesy or over the top romance, and everything I could've asked for!
