Why are bands like the 'ting-tings' and songs like put your hands up for de troy so successful... They're songs are repetitive and to me don't really have a meaning. They aren't my type of music and if you like them even better you can help explain to me... I am making it clear that I am not dissing those kind of bands just wondering.

I listen to music which has a meaning that i can clearly see. Take this song for example it's about celebrities acting fake by evanescence and it's the last chorus (it's called everybody's fool)
'It never was and never will be, you're not real and you can't save me, somehow now you're everybody's fool'

and compare it to 'put your hands up for de troy' which is all the song really is.Which do you prefer

I'm a huge Evanescence fan - and I've seen them live 2 or 3 times. I know what you mean about liking the meaning behind their songs, it makes them soulful, and it makes you love their music even more.

However, not ALL music is about meaning..sometimes it's just about it sounding good and making you feel good. I don't believe music ALWAYS has to mean something. Sometimes you need to stop thinking about it and just feel it instead. Does that make any sense?

Also - you have to bear in mind that everyone has different taste in music. I think a lot of people here would tell me and you that Evanescence are crap - but we would disagree of course! :)

Well the American people like crappy music.Like the Jonas Brothers or Miley Cyrus.I am not really sure why they do .Probably it's because of the beat of the song or something.

Put your hands up for Detroit.....those songs are played in clubs...just dance music...they're not supposed to have any meaning to them.

^ ^ ^ i'm not a cryer yet CL very almost had me in tears. He gets it, so does checklist. My son has performed one excursion in Iraq and is approximately to flow to Afghanistan. i think of all wars in particular and this conflict in specific are a waste of time and lives. I do help our infantrymen through fact i understand many that're there now, have been there or would be going there and that they are bright young women folk and adult men people who, for the main area, are in seek of an probability to make the international a greater desirable place. The politicians who initiate those issues in no way could desire to combat or see their toddlers combat and die. If we began sending those amoral, purulent crapsacks over there to submit or close up they does not be so worrying to prepare dinner up pretend info to start a conflict over. it incredibly is too basic to declare a conflict and deliver somebody else to combat it.

It's because pop music is marketed to the masses. Bob Brozman explains the phenomenon better than I could ever do. Check out the video below:

"I'm having trouble telling the difference between how Brittany Spears sounds and how tanks sound rolling into Baghdad"

This video is beyond awesome. It's so illuminating and interesting - I urge you to watch it.

Because They Are Catchy.
Are You Never In The Mood For Catchy Music?
To Me That Song By Evanescence Seems Meaningless To Some Of The Stuff I Listen To.

They Do So Well Because They Get People Singing Or Dancing.
