there is/ there are係解"嗰度有":
I have an apple
1個或不可數名詞用there is,可數又超過1個就用there are
例1:There is an apple嗰度有個蘋果
There are apples
2: There is bread
There are loads od bread
所以你要知個名詞可數/不可數,先知用there is定there are.
Singular:-
1) There is a big tree in the garden.
2) There's (There is) a good film on TV tonight.
3) There is not a university.
Uncountable:-
1) There is a lot of salt in this soup.
2) There is a lot of food in the kitchen.
plural and countable:-
1) There are some big trees in the garden.
2) There are a lot of accidents on this road.
3) There are seven days in a week.
4) There are not many people in this restaurant.
5) There aren't (There are not) any big hotels.
所以,我认同 002 所说的,在我们用 there is / are 之前,我们必须先知道我们要用的名词是 singular / plural / countable / uncountable 来的咯。
more than one things/people you see, should be use there are.
e.g. There are many birds eating on the ground. There are many people in the swimming pool.
There is an apple on the table. There is a park.
