Hong Kong students have wide range of interests on reading participate passionately
Although <<Harry Potter>> series finished formally, it is still the favourite between primary and secondary students. According to a poll run by a big local English learning website, JK Rowling, the author of <<Harry Potter>> wins the most popular writer of English books among students without doubts, and <<Christmas Carol>> becomes the first favourite English fiction in ten.
The poll starts from 17th April, ends on 27th , <<Harry Potter>>’s author Rowling has gained 537 votes, <<Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory>> ‘s author Roald Dahl has gained 230 votes which ranks the second ,while Charles Dicken’s <<a Tale of Two Cities>> has chased tightly and gained 214 votes and ranks the third.
Among the most favourite English books, <<Christmas Carol>> ranks the first for 351 votes, which <<Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone>> ranks the second with 335 votes; since the votes are divided, other series of <<Harry Potter>> follow <<Christmas Carol>> tightly. If the votes of <<Harry Potter>> series are all added up, the total reaches up to 722 votes, graps 11% of all votes. It is not a exaggeration that <<Harry Potter>> series trigger the tide of Hong Kong’s and Macau’s students reading English books.
There are many students who are fond of reading literature classics, <<Cinderella>> has a strong rise of 146 votes, and other two all-time favourites <<Animal Farm>> and <<Alice's Adventures in the Wonderland>> receive 103 and 97 votes respectively.
