A 512-hertz sound wave travels 100 meters to an observer through air at STP. What is the wavelength of ths sound wave?
(A) 1.55m (B) 0.646m (C) 5.12m (D) 0.195m

Could someone please explain the answer to me!

✔ 最佳答案
v=100m, f=512Hz, wavelength: ?
v=f X wavelength
to solve for wavelength, divide force on both side:
v/f=wavelength
& substitute
100/512=0.195
which is D

at STP, a sound should travel through air at a velocity of about 330 m/s

velocity of wave( in meters per second) = frequency of wave(in Hertz) MULTIPLIED by wavelength of wave(in meters)

hence wavelength = velocity divided by frequency(when you transpose to make wavelength the subject of the formula)

hence wavelength of the wave in consideration = (330 m/s)/(512 Hz)
= 0.645 m to three decimal places...
so 'B' is the answer...
don worry bout the difference(0.646 and 0.645) that is probably cause i did not use the precise value for the speed of sound in air...but that is close enough anyway...
