I hope to know (1) where to rent a cheap one-bed unit for two weeks holiday in Hobart? (2) what is the main transport in Hobart... bus, train.. any free buses there?

Main transport is car. You can rent a car too. Roads are quiet and should not be difficult to drive. Bus is possible, but won't be that frequent.
