Is pork red meat? What is considered red meat?

There was a commercial a couples years back that said, " Pork, the other white meat" in reference to it also being white meat along with Chicken. People used to be afraid of Trichinosis in pork which was a parasite found in undercooked Pork. Nowadays, that threat is minimal because of improvements in antibiotics and the way the animals are raised. You can actually under cook pork slightly and it should be nice and juicy. No blood should be visible but slight pink is o.k.

When the pork is cooked, it looks white. However pork is red meat and people always judge the colour when it is cooked - wrongdoing!

When to consider if the meat is red or white? When the product is raw such as lamb, beef and pork, they are redish colour. Chicken and turkey are pink (white meat).
