How do you solve: -10p + 8 = 7p + 12? and 32 - 3/8y = 3/4y + 5?

Need help for homework. If I can get these two, I can finish all the other problems. Need to show "how" you get the answer.

Solutions :- 10p + 8 = 7p + 12
- 10p - 7p = 12 - 8
- 17p = 4
p = 4/-17
p = - 4/17 (Answer)
p = - 0.235
32 - 3/8y = 3/4y + 5
- 3/8y - 3/4y = 5 - 32
- y(3/8 + 3/4) = - 27
- y(3 + 6)/8 = - 27
- y(9/8) = - 27
- y = (- 27 x 8)/9
- y = - 216/9
- y = - 24

You have to move the variables to one side, and the numbers to the other.
-10p+8=7p+12 The equation
+10p-----+10p Adding 10p to both sides to eliminate the -10p
8=17p+12 Subtract 12 from both sides to elminiate the 12

-4=17p
divide by 17 on both sides to find p
-4/17=p
