Can I make scalloped potatoes and refrigerate them for a few hours before baking, or will the potatoes turn brown if I do?

Thanks.

To answer you.. I say yes.. the potatoes will turn brown
IF they are not covered w/ liquid.. as in milk or cream..

so either cook them, and reheat in microwave w/ a touch of
butter and milk as not to be too dry..
or cover w/ milk and a lid in the refrig..
Take care

Just make the whole thing ahead of time then reheat it when you're ready to eat. It will taste even better since the flavors have had time to blend.

Make the whole dish ahead of time and then re-heat. It will be better than just slicing the potatoes ahead of time.

Put the potatoes in a bow of cold water. It helps to maintain its freshness. When baking, remember to pat dry the potatoes!
