What was the setting?
We talk about the setting of a story / a movie.
Setting means "when and where the story begins"
e.g. the setting of the film "Die Hard" is Los Angeles at Christmas Eve (1988)

Did the setting change from the beginning of the film to the end?
Sometimes there is a change in the place and time while the story is developing. e.g. in the movie 東京攻略, the story begins in HK, then Kelly Chan and Ekin Cheng go to Tokoy to look for Kelly's fiance. The setting changes from HK to Tokyo.

In what way?
You have to talk about the changes in time and place.
