As a 'non traditional cooker' myself, I usually cook whatever I can find or think of.
Roast chicken thighs or drumsticks with stir fry seasonal vegetables served with boiled rice. Soy sauce to be added to the rice (optional).
Seasonal vegetables soup. Spaghetti Bolognese.
Fresh Boneless and skinless fish fillets. Cooked and mashed. Shaped into fish cakes. Cover with batter. Fry. Serve with steamed vegetables. Roast potatoes. Perhaps some sauces too.
