Can you help me simplify the equation (10-2x)(8x-2x^2)?

I'm doing this for a calculus class, but evidently I need to go back to algebra because I can not figure this out. My calculator gave me the answer 4x(x-5)(x-4). The lowest I can simplify by hand is 2(x-5)(-x^2+4x) So either the calc is wrong or I'm just silly and I'm missing something. Thanks for any help!

Wonderful! Thanks, seeing that made me realize what my calc was doing, thanks so much!

(10-2x)(8x-2x^2)
=80x-20x^2-16x^2+4x^3
=4x^3-36x^2+80x answer//

(10 - 2x)(8x - 2x^2)

We can use the FOIL Method to multiply the above.

10 * 8x = 80x

10 * -2x^2 = -20x^2

-2x * 8x = -16x^2

-2x * -2x^2 = 4x^3

80x - 20x^2 - 16x^2 + 4x^3

Combine like terms:

-20x^2 - 16x^2 = -36x^2

80x - 36x^2 + 4x^3

or

4x^3 - 36x^2 + 80x

(10 - 2x)(8x - 2x^2)
= 10*8x - 2x*8x - 10*2x^2 + 2x*2x^2
= 80x - 16x^2 - 20x^2 + 4x^3
= 4x^3 - 36x^2 + 80x

(80x-40x)-(16x-8x^2) i think =)
參考: Did algebra just a term ago =)

The steps should look like this:

=(10-2x)(8x-2x^2)
=2(5-x)(2)(4x-x^2)
=4(5-x)(4x-x^2)
=4(5-x)(x)(4-x)
=4x(5-x)(4-x)
=4x(-1)(-1)(5-x)(4-x)
-1 x -1 = 1[remains the same]
=4x(-1)(5-x)(-1)(4-x)
=4x(x-5)(x-4)

hope that this may helps you!
