I know this is a silly question, but as far as "healthier" choice of food goes, which one of these cuisine/food (chinese, japanese, korean, and thai) is healthiest - least healthy? Either for take out/eating out or cooking at home (both traditional, and typical restaurant food)?

on a whole, chinese you would find in retaurants is quite different to food the chinese eat every day and is made with a lot of oil and batter....koreans use alot of marinades and meats, so bad stuff is mostly salt and oil, health wise, with their portions, it is not too bad, plus they have alot of cabbage in meals so it cleanses the system, japanese has a variety of different meals, and while sushi is very healthy, karaage chicken and katsu don is not so much as it is deep fried, so you really need to use common sense with that one and finally thai food, while very delicious often uses coconut milk which is extremely fattening, as well and oils and deep fried foods. so over all i think korean or japanese

If restaurant food, least to most healthy would be Chinese, Korean, Thai and Japanese. Something that everyone failed to mention, MSG is not only used in Chinese food, but also Japanese and Korean. Restaurant/take-out Chinese is bad because of all the sugary sauce that's not even authentic Chinese. Thai uses peanut oil and coconut milk, which too much is bad. Korean is next as they use a lot of marinate and salt. Japanese is a better as they have a lot more healthier choices (sushi, sashimi, udon, sukiyaki...)

If home-cooked food, least to most healthy would be Thai, Korean, Japanese and Chinese. Thai , the problem with coconut milk still exists. Korean, the problem with marinate and salt still exists. Japanese, depends on what you’re cooking at home and the ingredients you use. If you’re using the pre-packaged ingredients (ie. curry cubes), then you’d be ingesting a lot of preservatives and MSG. Chinese people do not cook a la restaurant at home. Chinese home-cooking is mainly steamed, stir-fried and boiled and served with steamed rice - minimal salt, oil, sauce, etc.

Japanese food is the most healthy, mainly cause they use fresh products, and they don't use many sauces, oils, etc.

Chinese will as be the least healthy and Japanese would be the healthiest, especially miso soup and sushi. However if you are getting take out it doesn't really matter because what you are is loaded with sodium and MSG any way. If you are eating out or cooking go with Thai or Japanese :)

there really isnt a least healthy choice among those, it all depends on what you eat, but for take out i would have to say that japanese is the most healthy because if you just order sushi, or sashimi its a lot less fat than American chinese take out (as far as i know because American chinese take out) but if your talking about tempura and all those other take out dishes, its no different, cooking at home and actual restaurant food is definitely healthier, and im not talking about those franchise asian restaurant you see in America im talking about the real restaurants, with waiters and waitresses

All Asian meals are mostly made from fresh ingredients. They use a lot of vegetables and meat as a flavorings.
But saying that, there are certain meals that are made deep fried or in ways that are comprised of lots of calories.
Over all, eating Asians foods are very food for you and also good for your waist line too!!!

I would think that Thai food is the most healthy- tons of fresh veggies and fruit in that type of cuisine.

Worst offender would probably be all those deep fried, sauce-slathered Chinese dishes that Americans love so much. Lemon chicken, sweet and sour pork... they're all very bad for your health.

I'd also say Japanese is healthy, but because of all the fish I'd vote no. Tests have show substantial amounts of mercury in restaurant sushi.
