The most common Chinese surname (according to any WhitePages):
In Cantonese: Chan, Lee, Li, Wong, Ho, Cheung, Lam, Lau
In Mandarin (or other Chinese dialects): Chen, Li, Wang, Huang, Zhang, Lin, Liu

In regards to Chinese first names, it depends on the gender as well as where the person is from. Most people in China have a two-character names (last-first) but most people in Taiwan and Hong Kong have three-character names (last-second-first).

Typical first names for girls (in Mandarin. Cantonese sound in parentheses):
Mei (Mei)- beauty
Zhu (Chu)- pearl
Li (Lai)- beautiful
Hua (Wah)- elegant
Fen (Fen)- fragrant
Fang (Fong)- fragrant
Bing (Bing)- Ice

Typical first names for boys (in Mandarin. Cantonese sound in parentheses):
