Pros:
1) By studying abroad, you learn to be independent. It is often a huge step from adolescence to adulthood and you gain a lot of confidence and self-esteem. This coming-of-age experience can be very rewarding.

2) By living in a different country, you are exposing yourself to a different culture and to people from diverse backgrounds. It is generally regarded as a life-enriching experience.

Cons:
1) By being alone in a foreign country, one can sometimes feel very lonely and helpless. Such anxiety can be worsened when one feels homesick. Severe anxiety can even result in insomnia and depression.

2) Studying abroad can be frustrating when language becomes a barrier to learning. One has to deal with mastering a new language and studying at the same time, resulting in a sense of failure.
