Oil leaking problem from my mini cooper?

Hi All,

I have 2000 cooper, the mini has nasty oil leak dripping on teh drivers side just behind the front wheel. looking under the car, there is oil sprayed over the front wishbone area and under the bonnet, spray on the drivers side of the engine, around the belt.

Any ideas what it might be?

It looks expensive No warning lights or nasty engine noises, so I don't think any serious engine damage. I'm guessing a seal has failed somewhere.

What do you think are my chances of getting Mini to stump up for at least some if the bill?

when I say 2000, I meant 2003

its prolly the halfshaft seal coming from the tranny.. it spits it out like that because tranny oil is flinging out from the tranny seal to halfshaft. i dont think they would cover it unless u had some kind of warranty...

Could be a crankshaft oil seal or from a gasket higher up and running down

On a nine year old car, I doubt it.

2000 model? Chance of Mini paying some of the bill 0%.
Probably the leak is from the rocker cover gasket, but still best for you to take the car into a garage for a full examination.
Ja.
