Let X be the number of people who agree with the current housing policy.a. X ~ B(40 , 1/2)
Now, test statistics, z = (10 + 0.5 - 40(1/2)) / (40 X 1/2 X 1/2)1/2
= -3.004 < -1.645
So, at α = 0.05, the null hypotheses is rejected.
b. X ~ B(40 , 0.2)
Now, test statistics, z = (10 + 0.5 - 40(0.2)) / (40 X 0.2 X 0.8)1/2 = 0.9882 < 1.645
So, at α = 0.05, the null hypotheses is not rejected.
