⑤ One player will serve the shuttlecock and keep doing so until he (she) or his (her) team loss the rally.
⑥ A rally is lost by making one of the faults: 1. If the birdie lands outside the boundary lines, 2. If the birdie does not pass over the top of the net, 3. If the birdie is not returned over the net, 4. If the birdie is not hit with a racket before hitting the ground.
⑦ If a fault is caused by the server's team, the opposing team is allowed to serve.(*) However, the opposing team does not score a point.
⑧ In badminton only the server or his/her team can accumulate points.(**) Thus, if the fault is caused by the opposing team, the server and his team gain a point.
⑨ The player or team win the game by scoring 15 points first.
⑩ Play a match based on the best two out of three.
Remark:
* In double game, when the first server of the serving side loses a rally, the serve passes to the second server, and then to their opponent(s).
** Badminton World Federation have been testing a new scoring format of 21 points per game (rally point scoring system) on all major Badminton competition and decided to replace the old format permanently. In this new system, each game is played with 21 points, with players scoring a point whenever they win a rally (this differs from the old system, where players could only win a point on their serve). A match is the best of three games.
