you first find the greatest common factor (the factors that appear in both numbers), which is x,y, and 2. So you write 2xy(3x-7)

6x^2 y - 14xy
= 2xy(3x - 7)

6x²y – 14xy
look for the common factors
both numbers can be divided by 2,x,and y.
so, 2xy(3x-7)

recheck = when 2xy(3x), u get = 6x²y
and then when 2xy(-7) = -14xy
together, it makes 6x²y-14xy

6x^2y - 14xy
= (2xy) (3x - 7) {0n taking 2xy common from 6x^2y - 14xy}

you can factor out a 2, x, and y from both numbers which leaves you with 2xy(3x-7) hope that helps =)

6x^2y-14xy

They are all divisible by 2 and x and y therefore:

=2xy(3x-7)

take components appearing similar in both sides and that would be 2, x and y

2xy (3x -7)

(2 x y ) (3 x - 7 y )
2009-03-23 6:22 pm
6x^2y - 14xy
= 2(3x^2y - 7xy)
= 2xy(3x - 7)
