The killer used a piece of rope with a hook in the middle to coil the victim’s neck, and hung it on the roof.
coil around victim’s neck...(因為是圍著)
and pulled the rest of the rope through the two pulleys on the roof.
(應是將"其餘"的繩穿過天花板上的滑輪~
就這樣"掛上天花板"比較難理解/圖像化~
另~由於是指明天花板上"那兩個"滑輪~所以第一次提及也可用the two pulleys~)

A string at the other side tied some plastic buckets together and the killer had poured water into those buckets before he left.
The other end of the rope...
(用開rope就繼續用~string多指較幼的線~
繩的另一頭用end多於用side~因side有"平面"的意思~)
was tied to some plastic buckets and...
(was tied 是因為繩不會自己縛自己~是被動的~
together就不用了~不必刻意強調"縛在一起"~)
the killer put a water pipe with water flowing out into one of the buckets before he left.
(因為他不是倒水~而是放入水喉慢慢加水~才能做成不在場殺人的效果嘛~
而且一條水管只能為其中一個桶加水~
另外不必強調"已經"加了水/放入水管~所以不用perfect tense較好~)

The string started to pull up the victim when the buckets became heavier and heavier. The victim may have dead before his body was pulled up.
The rope started to pull the victim up... (pull sb. up 較正式)
the bucket...(如上文只有一桶加水那只有一個桶變重~)
may have been dead / may have died...(dead是 adj.)
最後一句同上~ had been dead / had died.

這次文法上比較少錯誤呢~~Congrats~~
