Calculate the mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of fiber:

Fiber, First value(dry fiber), Last value(fiber absorbedwith water)

Nylon, 9.1g, 27.2g

Rayon, 2.4g, 24g

Cotton,1.6g, 47g

Knitted cotton, 22.3g, 109.4g

Tissue paper (Cellulose), 2.5g, 21g

Wool, 4g, 34g

Mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of fiber = last value / first value
Mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of nylon
=(27.2-9.1)/9.1
=1.99g(cor. to 3 sig. fig.)
Mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of rayon
=(24-2.4)/2.4
=9.00g(cor. to 3 sig. fig.)
Mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of cotton
=(47-1.6)/1.6
=28.4g(cor. to 3 sig. fig.)
Mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of knitten cotton
=(109.4-22.3)/22.3
=3.91g(cor. to 3 sig. fig.)
Mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of tissue paper (cellulose)
=(21-2.5)/2.5
=7.40g(cor. to 3 sig. fig.)
Mass of fluid absorbed per unit mass of wool
=(34-4)/4
=7.50g(cor. to 3 sig. fig.)
