This is common experience. Air, for example, occupies every corner of a room irrespective the size and shape of the room.
Air exerts pressure, if air has fixed shape, then part of the room will not be occupied by air, the pressure at tha part of the room will be zero. This pressure difference certainly cause air to flow until all part of the room is occupied by air.
