I myself went to school this morning.
"myself" is an intensive pronoun in the sentence.

Can I use adverb phrase "by myself" instead and write
I, by myself, went to school this morning.

Sure you can. But the meaning is obviously quite different. In the first instance you 'intensify' that it was you and, in the second, you strengthen the notion that you went alone.
Your call as to which is most appropriate.
