What do you real geisha's look like?

Someone already asked a question about this video...geisha are nothing like what is shown in that video. They aren't prostitutes (and technically the picture TokyoE linked to is of maiko, but since those are apprentice geisha it's cool). If you are really interested in learning about geisha, I suggest you visit the Immortal Geisha forums and look through the many many threads of pictures, videos, and information.

Geishas are artisans - they perform at drinking houses: sing, dance, play musical instruments. If the geisha is good (ie. popular with her clients) then she might get herself a sugar-daddy. He would take care of her and give her money to buy clothes, jewelry, etc. There may or may not be sex involved, that's an agreement between her and her sugar-daddy. But geishas are not trained to be sex workers, they are trained to be artists/performers.

Geisha are not prostitutes, stop spreading the myth (to previous person).

NO! NO NO!! Nowhere close!! I'll explain what a Geisha looks like, although I am not one, I'm an expert on them. And they aren't Prostitutes.

What a Geisha look like:

A Geisha works hard. As I heard, their fingers sometimes bleed, and their feet ache. They go to Japanese teahouses to perform, and they wear nape make-up (White Neck make-up, although also put on their face) on all the skin that is visible from their kimono, such as their face, their neck, and the part of their back that shows. There is a little design on their back. Different parts of Japan have Geishas wear different styles of Geisha hair. But they always wear it up. It hurts to have your hair fixed when you're a Geisha. They pull hard, and comb it with a comb that has been dipped in boiling water. It pulls real hard. And then, they have I think mascara, and wear blood-red lipstick. They cover their eye-brows with the nape make-up and then, their light a little stick, then blow it out, and that is what they use to draw their eye-brows.
