"Our boss appointed me (to be)the chairman of the meeting"
Why the center don't need to add "to be" or other preposition? What is this structure?

But I read a English book that has this sentance. So I think this sentance is correct.

you need to add (to be) in the sentense,but no need to add other
preposition.
(to be) is 'became' here.
