Why using many of them is wrong?

There are two problems with this sentence:

1. "Many of them" seems to refer to "The event dinner". I know. To you it sounds like you're talking about the delegates with the word "them" but your sentence structure suggests you're referring to the dinner. That's because "The event dinner" is the subject.

2. "The event dinner was particularly appreciated by the delegates" and "Many of them traveled from other countries" are two complete sentences. You cannot separate them with one comma unless if you use a conjunction like "and" or "so". The error is commonly called the "Comma Splice".

You can correct those sentences using any one of these:

The event dinner was particularly appreciated by the delegates. Many of those delegates traveled from other countries.

OR

The event dinner was particularly appreciated by the delegates, and many of those delegates traveled from other countries.

OR

The event dinner was particularly appreciated by the delegates, so many of those delegates traveled from other countries.

It should be
"The event dinner was particularly appreciated by the delegates, many
of whom travelled from other countries."

many of them is correct!!!!!!!
just like many of you,,,,just chang you to them..........
I always hear my english teacher say it like this,I am study in ENI college,that mean enhlish college ,I think my english teacher will not make grammar mistake or any english mistake...........
