x-7/10=7/2
times whole thing by 10 to make it extra easy.
10x-7=35
plus 7 on both sides
10x=42
divide 10 on both sides
x=4.2

you could use this method and instead times the whole thing by 2. either way this is just to eliminate the fractions.

alternatively you could do it this way,
add 7/10 to both sides
x=7/10+7/2
make denominators the same
x=7/10 + 7*5/(2*5) = 7/10 + 35/10
x=42/10
x=4.2

or you could just use the decimals and then simple add or minus where appropriate untill the equation is in the form where x = .....

x = 35/10 + 7/10
x = (35+7)/10
x = 42/10
x = 21/5
x = 4 1/5

x-0.7 = 3.5 [+0.7 - making x the subject]
hence x = 4.2

(x - 7)/10 = 7/2
x - 7 = 10(7/2)
x - 7 = 70/2
x - 7 = 35
x = 35 + 7
x = 42

(10x-7)*2=7*10
20x-14=70
x=56/20=14/5
