a) (2a - 15b) + (5a + 15b) = 7a b) (2a + 10) + (12 - 3a) = 22 - a c) (3x² + 3x) - (x² + a million) = 2x² + 3x + a million = (2x + a million) (x + a million) d) (14x² - 2x³) + (x² - x) = -2x³ + 15x² - x = x(-2x²+15x-a million) © EA Maths, 2011.

2a + 3b - 5a + b - 7
-3a + 4b - 7.
or
3a - 4b + 7.

2a + 3b - 5a + b - 7
= 2a - 5a + 3b + b - 7
= -3a + 4b - 7

Combine like terms. There's a 2a and -5a, so those combine to give you a -3a:
-3a + 3b + b - 7

There's a 3b and b, so those combine to give you 4b:
-3a + 4b - 7

That's as simplified as you can get it.

combine like terms.
(3 + 1) b + (2 - 5) a - 7.

or
4b - 3a -7

Combine the like terms:
(2a - 5a) + (3b + b) + (-7) =

-3a + 4b - 7 <=====Solution

What are you solving for?

The simplest I can see is (2-5)a + (3+1)b - 7 = -3a + 4b - 7.
Just combine like terms.

Collect like terms I'm guessing by simplify.

2a-5a = -3a
3b+b = 4b

-3a + 4b - 7 is the simplified version of 2a+3b-5a+b-7
