Sodium Hydroxide 與 水 (water)

This process of mixing NaOH to water will give out heat.

If you pour a small amount of water into concentrated NaOH, water may be heated up rapidly and may caused a small explosion. In order to prevent that from happening, always pour concentrated NaOH into a large amount of water slowly.

For diluted NaOH, both procedures will be fine.
