Heat given out when 1 kg of steam condenses to water
= 1 x 2260 kJ = 2260 kJ
Heat given out when the temperature of the condensed water is lowered to 0 C = 1 x 4.2 x 100 kJ = 420 kJ
Total heat given out = (2260 + 420) kJ = 2680 kJ
Mass of ice melted in order to provide such amount of heat
= 2680/334 kg = 8 kg
Hence, there is (10-8) kg = 2 kg of ice remained.
The mixture therefore consists of 9 kg of water at 0 C and 2 kg of ice at 0 C.
