do these chinese symbols mean anything or are they just designs?

its an old embroidery pattern with Chinese looking symbols
and the question do the symbols have meaning or are they just pretty designs

I see no meaning :) Or maybe some wrongly written Chinese characters.

Some of them are similar to Chinese words.

At the bottom right, the pattern is similar to "並".
At the top left, the pattern is similar to "日".
At middle, the pattern is a bit similar to "骨“.

Years ago (sometimes still, but not so much) when Westerners wanted to convey a sense of China they'd make up "characters" that they thought had the right look. You find this quite often in movies before the 1960s where signs along a street in China or Chinatown would all be totally unreadable by anyone who knew the language. Apparently people never thought about hiring a Chinese to make it more realistic.

The first character on the pot looks a bit like the character 丹 (dan1, dān, tan1) : 'cinnabar', 'vermilion'

well of course if i were to make something i would make it quite mysterious XD or like something 4 others to interprete XD
