英文Quite

我睇本書,個度上面寫:
I couldn't agree with you more. You're quite right.
我想問,句 sentence前面係否定佢,但係點解後面又話you're quite right既?
仲有我想問一句句子應該只有一個main verb係唔係?
但係我唔明依句: The younger you are , the easier it is to learn.
前句已經有個are, 但係後面又有個 is,咁邊個先係main verb??

I couldn't agree with you more.<---------Positive

I couldn't agree with you. <-------------Negative here

_______________________________________
I couldn't agree with you more. You are quite right. <-Correct!

Positive + positive ( additional stuff)

Example:

Helen is so sexy. She is such a beauty. <-------------Correct!

Positive + positive <---------------

You may just say either" Helen is so sexy." OR " She is such a beauty."

It is all up to you. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The younger you are , the easier it is to learn.
"are" <--------- It is the main verb(auxi) here.
YOU ARE<--------
When you ARE younger, it is easier for you to learn.
By the way, I am sorry that I chose to answer your question in English.
In my opinion, talking about the English language in English is always the best way.
( I don't know much Chinese.) O_O
Hope that helps, Vincent.
See you around.
Vincent, I failed to read your question in both Chinese and English.
I have sent you an email about adverbial clauses.
It IS easier for you to learn new things<-----= principle clause
when you are younger <------ This is what we call ' adverbial clause".
2009-03-01 14:27:06 補充:
Adverbial clauses always begin with a subordinating conjunction. The most common subordinating conjunctions are listed below.
我未聽過adverbial clause,不如比個example to me!!
I couldn't agree with you more不是否定佢,而是極讚賞佢。
直譯是:我對你的意見是完全同意的。當一個英國人對你的意見,不能加以任何挑剔,他會以這負負得正的說法,來表達他對你的意見,是完全同意了。
你的第二問題是關於一句複合句的,而這複合句可寫成:If you are younger, it is easier for you to learn new things 或是 When you are younger, it is easier for you to learn new things了。那麼何為句子的 main verb,就顯而易見的了!
2009-02-27 15:07:03 補充:
When you are younger, it is easier for you to learn ( new things ).是被接受為正確的句子了。
那麼你有聽過一個 adverbial clause 的動詞…are,就是整句的 main verb 嗎?不可能吧!
Is 才是整句的 main verb呢!因為 it is easier for you to learn (new things) 才是這句子的 principle clause 呢!
are係main verb
參考: me
