What is the Chinese people opinion about the number of the children that the Westerners are having?

It reinforces the idea that "westerners are rich". The Chinese people believe in giving only the best to their kids, cultivating their kids, etc. It's not uncommon to see kids in China taking piano lessons, art lessons, martial arts classes, after-school tutoring classes, swimming lessons, tennis lessons, etc. in addition, they have high tech toys (game consoles, computers...) and all these require a lot of money. To them, this is how a parent should be, unless the reason behind having kids is the extra pair of hands on the farm.

So, the more kids you have means the more money you have. And if the parents themselves are not rich, it only means that their government is rich, or else who's going to support and fund all these 'necessities'.

A family had too many children, usually above 5 children before 1980's, This caused overpopulation of china today.
There was not a good public health and medical service.
parents had not enough ability to afford all children. because of NO food,No medicine,No treatment,
Only few children survived, Almost every family lost one OR more children dying of illness OR injury. Now , one child policy allows a family has 1~2 children. every child is treated well.

I don't think Chinese people would feel anything different. By the way they've lived for so long, I think they're already used to it. I guess it's also easier to take care of one child. That's why chinese parents put in everything they've got to raise their children to become the best within their ability. Even though Westerners have more than one child, I doubt they'll feel a sense of regret or shame because they'll be prouder of their one child if he/she becomes successful in the future.

In bigger city, living standart developed rapidly in past several years, but the cost of affording a child is becoming more and more expensive.
Chinese parents treat their children very well, they try their best to cultivate their children so that their children can survive the fierce competition in china today. So only one child will exhaust a couple of parents in average income, let it alone 2-3 children. The satuation of now is lots of people fear to have a baby in big city.
