Have you not been taught to isolate x?

Transpose -6/7 to the right side to give 2 + 6/7. Convert that number to a fraction

2= 14/7 and added to 6/7 gives 20/7

Thus 4x=20/7

Now divide each side by 4 to give x

Thus x= 20/7 times 1/4

4 goes into 20 , 5 times

so x=5/7

three times 4x is 12x; three times 2 is 6... 12x+6=7; subtract 6 from 7 to get 12x=a million; divide with the aid of 12 which might equivalent x=a million/12 plug it in...4 cases a million/12 equals .3333333333333... plus 2 equals 2.3333333333 cases 3 equals 6.9999999 rounded equals 7!!!!!! performed with artwork... x=a million/12

As given question MUST be read as :-
4x - (6/7) = 2
4x = 14/7 + 6/7
4x = 20/7
x = 5/7

However it may be that you mean :-
(4x - 6) / 7 = 2
4x - 6 = 14
4x = 20
x = 5

4x - 6/7 = 2
4x = 2 + 6/7
4x = 14/7 + 6/7
x = (20/7)/4
x = (20/7)(1/4)
x = 5/7

I would start with removing fractions first: multiply both sides by 7
28x - 6 = 14
28x = 20
x = 20/28
x = 5/7

you did not have to remove the fractions, it however made out calculations a bit easier.

4x - 6/7 = 2

4x = 2 + 6/7 (collect like terms- by transfer -6/7, then - sign change to + sign

4x = 20/7 (L.C.M)

28x = 20 (Cross Multiply)

Divide both side by coefficient of x which 28

28x/28 = 20/28

x = 5/7 or 0.714

add 6/7 to both sides so 4x=20/7, then divided by 4
so x equals 5/7

4x= 2+6/7
4x=14/7+6/7
4x=20/7
x=20/28
=5/7

4x-6/7=2

=> 4x=2+6/7

=>4x= 20/7

=>x= 20/7 x 1/4

=> x= 5/7

add 6/7 to the both side of equal sign

right side will remain 4x since -6/7 and +6/7 council

add 2 to 6/7
