the free space in drive c was 4.83 GB.
Last night immediately before I shut down the laptop the free space in drive c was also 4.83 GB, this morning when turn on the computer the free space became 7.12 GB.
The system restore was off since I owned the laptop.
How dose the computer restore 2.29 GB disk space during power off.
I am using Vista, for the past several days?

It doesn't. It might have deleted the restore point it created when you first turned it on.
