Final escaped wild dog captured
People had been warned not to approach the dogs
All the wild hunting dogs that escaped from an animal park in Kent have been recaptured.
The pack of dholes was discovered missing from their enclosure at Howletts Wild Animal Park, near Canterbury, on Wednesday morning.
During their recapture, which involved police helicopters and armed police, seven of the animals, also known as Asiatic wild dogs, had to be shot.
The last one was found after spending two days on the run.
Members of the public were warned not to approach the dogs, while staff at Littlebourne Primary School were also warned to look out for them after some were sighted nearby.
Kent Police said the dogs posed "minimal risk" to the public.
The park, which has begun an internal investigation into how the dogs escaped, was closed following the incident but reopened on Thursday.
In the wild, dholes live in dense forest and thick scrub jungle and feed on deer, wild pigs, mountain sheep, guar and antelope.
The park, combined with its sister zoo, Port Lympne, near Ashford, is home to 1,000 animals.
