What kinda car should we get?

I’m 27 years old and have been a car buff my whole life.
I wouldn’t suggest getting a convertible. The only good convertibles are really expensive, a cheap one is a car for tools. The only thing that would make you look good in one is the fact that you’re a young lady. They also have really high insurance costs, like a lot more, and they cost more to fix. The last thing is any 4 seaters are rubbish, their seats for people who have lost their legs.

I’d probably look at a few things about your lifestyle first.
1. Do you live in a city, what is parking like there?
2. Do you have a lot of friends? Will you be planning to go out with them?
3. What type of image do you want to project of yourself, a sophisticated person or a hoon?

There are cars out there that are affordable, still fast, young in age, safe (very important), no going to break down, cheap to fix/insure/run, and look really cool.
Their called hatches, there are really neat models past 2000 that look expensive and say “Hey I’ve got style and smarts”. You will be able to buy twice the car just by forgetting the lour of a convertible you will probably think wasn’t such a smart choice.

I’d suggest you also what some Top Gear, those guys understand what a car a good car is and say a lot about the aesthetics of the vehicle.

VW Golf is very sexy for a young woman. Lancers are a bit meaner looking.
But really think about it, think about what you are getting.
If you can get a modern 2000+ model hatch, with 60,000km or less, good service record. You will feel like you got a brand new car and look like it as well. Very smart.

Look at the Saab 9-3 Convertible, or the Pontiac G6 Convertible.
