Are the Saints going to release Deuce McAllister?

the suspence is killing me. the time for releasing vets is here and they still haven't dne anything. I get nervious because i come home and am afraid to go to the saints website cause i think i will see an article saying deuce is gone. If they havent done anything yet does that mean they are more than likely trying to get a deal done to keep him. a lot of people said they didn't eve want him back like Jeff Duncan with the saints insider but he is an idiot so he cant be taken seriously.

last guy you don't live in new orleans. it shows that the saints ar your "2nd" fav team if you don't respect deuce. and you might want to look into that steriod thing again before you make your decicion

I know your a huge Deuce fan. My honest opinion is they are going to release or trade him. They will be good with Pierre Thomas and may add additinal depth at RB in the draft. It is not that Deuce doesn't have the heart and desire to play. He just doesn't have the same ability with 2 jacked up knees. Sorry bro, but I tell it like it is.

Thumbs up to those who agree.

I was not surprised Mcallister got released at all. The NFL is a business, and this was a business decision. He was a great player for the franchise, but they are now a pass oriented team, and Bush and Thomas fit much better with the team. As for him being young, he is 30 years old. In the NFL for a running back, 30 is the age where their careers begin to decline. As for Deuce, he began to decline around age 27 due to injuries. It is sad to see someone go who was so great for the community and for the franchise, but it was a smart business decision for the Saints.

I have to say that I am a big Saints fan, they are my 2nd favorite team. With that being said, what's with the LOVE FEST here for Deuce McAllister? I've had him on many fantasy football teams of mine, and I USED to be a fan of his, until he was CAUGHT this season for using a BANNED SUBSTANCE!!!!! He's a FREAKING CHEATER!!!!! (That's why the Patriots fan here wants Deuce on his team, because the Patriots organization LOVES cheaters, like Bill, Brady, etc.). Not only was he tested positive for a BANNED substance, he doesn't pass the "eyeball test": HE'S GOT A HEAD BIGGER THAN BARRY BONDS!!!!!

With that being said, the Saints will most likely release McAllister. Don't worry, Pierre Thomas is up & coming, and I'm sure they'll add another back, not to mention just hope Bush stays healthy and it'll all be good. This next season the Saints will do very well and fight valiantly up until the end when they LOSE to the Chargers in the SUPER BOWL!!!!!

aww thats a shame, but Deuce can do some wonders elsewhere i dont see him as a saint next season.

i would like to see him as a....hmm as a Jaguar for some reason? no no, not a jaguar, i see him as a Backup for the rest of his career, the mans getting old. or he can be pt. of a rotation?

You will know in two weeks tops. So in two weeks look at the ESPN ticker and expect to see Deuce McAllister RB waived.

I think they probably are. He's reaching that age where runningbacks start to decline. Sean Peyton hasn't been using him much this season, and with Bell, Bush, and Thomas on the roster, I doubt he'll have much reason to try and utilize McAllister. I say they'll probably release him and retire his number 26 jersey.

i dont think the saints want to pay him what his contract is due since he doesnt get much playing time anymore

maybe if they can make a deal with him to cheapen his contract they might keep him but if not i would think he would be released

Yes. He eats up too much cap space for what he brings to the game. Injuries have slowed him down, and at his age he isn't going to rebound. Sorry, I always liked him as a runner

God I hope so! Deuce could do wonders for my Patriots. I've always been a fan of his and would love to see him in New England's backfield in 2009.
