f(-2)..... this means put (-2) in place of x in the equation (-5 - 7x).

= -5 - 7(-2)
= -5 + 14
= 9

f(x) = -5 - 7x
f(-2) = -5 - 7(-2)
f(-2) = -5 - (-14)
f(-2) = -5 + 14
f(-2) = 9

f (-2) = - 5 - 7 (- 2)
f (-2) = - 5 + 14
f (-2) = 9

substitute x with -2

f(-2)= -5 - 7(-2)

f(-2)= -5 + 14

= -5 + 14

= 9

the result

f(x) = -5 - 7x
f(-2) = -5 - 7x
=-5 - (7 x -2)
=-5 - -14
=9

substitute x with -2
so
f(-2)= -5 - 7(-2)
f(-2)= -5 - -14 <-------------- thats negative five minus negative fourteen
= -5 + 14
= 9

You have to sub in the -2 for x, so =-5-7(-2)
=9

9.

just plug -2 into the x.
-5 - 7(-2)
-5 + 14
=9
