Do a blood test reveal all STDs?

I told my doctor to give me an STD test, and he did. He give me a STD blood test, I asked him will it reveal gonnrhea (I thought you needed a urine test for this). He just told me that the blood test will check for gluscose and enzymes or something and that will tell if I have an infection. So I was wondering if the blood test will reveal gonnrhea and chimildya.

gonorrhoea and chlaymida can be detected via a direct swab of the area ie a urethral swab or PCR DNA testing on a urine sample..it isnt picked up by a blood test so Id be going back..sure some infection increases your white cell count and that is picked up by a blood test but most people with STDS dont have high White cell counts.

No, most routine blood tests don't test for STD's. However, the blood test could offer a clue towards an STD - for example, if you white blood cell count is off it could indicate an infection, like an STD. But generally, if you want to test for STD's you need to do a separate test.

No, each test is specific. As others have stated. Each blood test drawn has to be specific as each tube has different reactors in the tube. HIV is another specific test. So by doing a blood draw, all testing can not get done.

Gonorrhea is actually a culture or a gram stain of the discharge (it is extremely hard to have GC & not know it). HIV, syphilis, and herpes can be dome from the blood; chlamydia is usually a urine test. So no, a blood test does not test for all STDS. You can get tested fro STDs easily at STD/Free clinics.

Tests are specific to the diseases they are tested for, and HIV test will not tell you if you have herpes or VD... There is no such thing as an "STD" test, you have to be tested for them individually...

What your doctor is saying makes since. If you blood chemistry's point to an infection than he will look closer.
It's not a urine test it's a swab test. They stick a cotton tip applicator down your pee hole.
yes it as painful as it sounds.
