How dose oil help the contries of Northern Europe?

Oil helps all modernized nations. It fuels their energy needs by using petroleum fueled power generating stations, it fuels production by allowing transportation and shipment of goods. It helps people get around and makes travel easier which is quite helpful for rural areas where not everything is close together like in a city. It helps people heat their homes so they can stay alive, because winters in places closer to the poles are quite cold. Burning oil can keep a house warm so the inhabitants do not freeze. It is also a great alternative to wood heating because of lack of good forest and rising cost of wood. It is also a lot easier to just turn up the thermostat rather than go out to the woodshed, lug in some wood and throw it into the wood stove and tinker with it until it goes. Wood heat is also less reliable than oil because it won't always take and give off heat.
