2. If the cost of the property was $100 and you got a mortgage loan from bank say, $70. Now, the property price fell by 20% coming to a market price of $80. If the mortgage loan policy of the bank remained unchanged say, 70% of the value of the property. The amount of the mortgage loan which the bank could grant you now under this current market value is 70% x $80 = $56. So, you see, there is a diffenece of $70-$56 = $14, which the bank could ask you to foot-up before they could provide you with this mortgage loan continousely. If you could not pay up the difference, the bank could foreclose your property, sell it to the market and give you any residue of the proceeds, if any.
