how many states are in the world?

Countries are sometimes referred to as States. In that case there are 195 of them. If you use the other meaning of state which is a part of a country, then the USA has 50, Australia has 6, Germany has 15 and so forth.

USA has 50 plus 1 federal district
Brazil 26 states plus 1 federal district
India 28 plus 7 union territories
Australia 6 plus 2 territories
Germany 16 states

there may be other nations that call their divisions "states" but that is what I can remember.

well they dont call anything "states" in other countries so i think there are only 50

I always thought it was 51 or something. And it's only in America -_-
