Adapter card stopped working?

I have an adapter card for small memory cards in phones and it stopped working...? My memory card works in my phone and the adapter card, if I recall, works with my friend's memory card. It worked just fine before. The adapter card isn't on lock, So if they both work but not together anymore, what's wrong? Should I get a new adapter or memory card? Is there a way to fix this?

Try switching wires.Try using a different card reader.
Try the adapter with another memory card.
Try your memory card with another adapter.
Now if all the above cant help you find the cause,
then you better buy a new card.
