Post punk music really took off in the early eighties, bands like The Jam were popular. They had the vitriol of punk musicians but were less harsh sounding than the punk music of the seventies.

Then there were a lot of new romantic and synth based bands. They were more concerned with the fashion than the actual music. Electric drum kits were all the rage.

In the eighties bands like Madness found great success in Britain with a ska/reggae influence.

there wasn t any .the 1980s were known for crappy hair doos , neo romantic clothing,boots all the bands were desperate to show how sensitive the were, which left not much room for music in general. praise the lord those evil days are past.
