No, you can not. A letter mailed from the US to Canada must have US postage on it. If you put Canadian stamps on the envelope, it will be judged as having 'insufficient postage" - no postage, in fact, and the person receiving it will have to pay double the postage. That's the penalty. If you live anywhere near the border, go to a US post office and get some US stamps. if you can't do that, do you know anyone in the US that you could ask to send you some stamps if you sent them the money? Failing that, you can buy an international response coupon at Canada post that you can enclose for postage on a letter from the US - or any other country - to Canada, but they cost a lot more than just getting stamps.

Only US postage is valid to mail anything in the USA even to a country that uses the postage. So if I sent a letter in the US to Canada, it would have to be in US stamps. :)

That won't work.

The return envelope must have US stamps on it, as it will enter the mail system IN the USA. Get it ?

I suggest that you buy a US currency money order at the Canada Post local office in your town, to cover the cost of the US stamps, to get it back to you, in Canada. Send the money order with the original letter, from Canada, to the American destination

Postage mailed in the US must have a US stamp on it so if you plan on sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the US it will have to have a US stamp on it. You could try checking at your local post office to see if they have an option for you in this case.

Since Canadian stamps are useless in the US, you need to find not only American stamps, but send enough for the envelope to go to Canada.

The cost can be found here:

1-If you want to, you can print off a pre-paid postage label at:
https://sss-web.usps.com/cns/landing.do
But you will pay more than the regular amount.

2-The other option is to buy american stamps at a stamp store (for collectors). Just do a google search for one in your area.

No can do

Yes, that would be right because:

1) you're sending the letter from US to canada so the stamps on this "outside" envelope would be US stamps as it is paid for the US postal service for delivering your mail to Canada.

2) inside this "outside" envelope is another envelope which is to be sent from Canada back to US, so stamps on this 'inside" envelope should be Canadian stamps as it is paid to the Canadian postal service for bringing the self-address envelope back from Canada to US.
