Thank you for the two answers provided. I have little difficult in interpreting the formula: (i) for (1+0.02)^-40 , does it mean that 1.02 to the power of - (negative) 40? if yes, why negative? (ii) Does the formula looks like A=P[1-(1+R)^-n]/R Please comment.

I am depositing $1000 every month in the bank. At the end of the 6th month, $1000 has been deposited for 6 months, $1000 for 5 months, $1000 for 4 months, and so on. Will the bank be so generous to give me the interest for $6000 for 6 months? Please comment. Thanks a lot.
