If your pants are uncomfortable, there's no reason not to get a pair of maternity jeans (it's all about the comfort!!). There are several styles of maternity jeans available, including the underbelly jeans, which you may find more comfortable early on in pregnancy. Seriously - do what makes you feel most comfortable.
You can also look into Bella Bands, which are stretchy bands of fabiric (like a tube top), that you can wear with your regular jeans...since the tibe will sit over the waistband, you can keep your jeans unbuttoned and even partly unzipped, which can help you stretch your pre-pregnancy wardrobe longer (as long as your pants aren't also too tight in the hips, too!)
I got my maternity jeans at Motherhood, and they've held up well, for whatever that's worth. And if I can give you another tip - you may be able to get some nice stuff at a deep discount at Motherhood right now. When I went in last summer, they were clearing out Fall '07 (to make room for Fall '08), and I picked up some tops and sweaters at like 65% off. With tops, etc. you may want to go up a size -- I'm learning you run out of what was once ample length sooner than you think!! but at almost 36 weeks, I'm using my trusty Bella band to create the illusion of a layered look and faking length. I'm not buying any more new clothes for just a few more weeks.
Best wishes to you!!
