Is it too early to get maternity pants?

I am 7 weeks pregnant, and my jeans are already getting pretty snug. I haven't started showing yet, but should I get maternity jeans? Or should I just go get a few bigger sizes? Aren't the maternity jeans only if you have the belly for them? Or do they make some that are just stretchy around the waist? And where should I go to get them? Motherhood Maternity?? Thanks!

If your pants are uncomfortable, there's no reason not to get a pair of maternity jeans (it's all about the comfort!!). There are several styles of maternity jeans available, including the underbelly jeans, which you may find more comfortable early on in pregnancy. Seriously - do what makes you feel most comfortable.

You can also look into Bella Bands, which are stretchy bands of fabiric (like a tube top), that you can wear with your regular jeans...since the tibe will sit over the waistband, you can keep your jeans unbuttoned and even partly unzipped, which can help you stretch your pre-pregnancy wardrobe longer (as long as your pants aren't also too tight in the hips, too!)

I got my maternity jeans at Motherhood, and they've held up well, for whatever that's worth. And if I can give you another tip - you may be able to get some nice stuff at a deep discount at Motherhood right now. When I went in last summer, they were clearing out Fall '07 (to make room for Fall '08), and I picked up some tops and sweaters at like 65% off. With tops, etc. you may want to go up a size -- I'm learning you run out of what was once ample length sooner than you think!! but at almost 36 weeks, I'm using my trusty Bella band to create the illusion of a layered look and faking length. I'm not buying any more new clothes for just a few more weeks.

Best wishes to you!!

Those bands are a temporary fix because you will be gaining weight in your rear, hips and thighs too. Pants don't just get tight in the waist, they get tight everywhere. If your pants are already feeling a little constricting then it's time to purchase a few maternity pants and tops that you can mix and match. They have stretch waistbands that you can fold down for a low-rise waist or fold up for full coverage, so they will take you through your nine months of pregnancy and beyond. If you shop online you are saving time, energy, gas money and sales tax. making quality extra affordable.

You could either get a bigger size in normal jeans, or go for a maternity jean that has a secret belly style. You should be able to keep those up before getting a baby belly. Some of the other styles will be harder to keep up until you have a baby belly. SearchByInseam.com has a good selection of both regular and maternity jeans, all searchable by your inseam length and price range. Congrats!

If you think you will be more comfortable in maternity pants go for it but trust me try to stay in your clothes while you can. Maybe buy a belly band. The reason being is it will be a long time (or maybe ever) before you can fit in those pants again and by the time your baby is born you will be so tired of wearing maternity jeans. I am 34 weeks and I am so tired of my maternity clothes. I actually bought 2 new pairs of jeans yesterday knowing I wont wear them long because I hate the pants I have so bad at this point.

There are all different kinds of maternity pants, some have an elastic panel and some have a flap thing. If you need them this early just get one or two pair and try to get some used stuff as you will get much bigger in the next 8 months It's easier to go with dressed for most of your wardrobe as they accommodate more growth. You can wear tights in the winter and you will be comfy.

They sell "belly bands" that go over opened jeans to accommodate a soon to be big bump..they let you wear your regular jeans longer just unbuttoned..They also have maternity jeans that don't have big panels, some come with elastic support at the waist/just below belly and others have no panel, they are just set low!

I had a pair of Maternity corduroys that I bought at wal-mart early in my pregnancy and they had a small elastic, looked like normal pants and were still very comfortable after my last baby!
Shop around and try on different things, lots of "meternity clothes"don't even look maternity these days!

I start wearing maternity pants when I was 8 weeks pregnant. My jeans were snug because I was so bloated, and I love how comfortable the maternity pants feel. Trust me, go try on a pair and you'll never want to take them off. Get the ones with the elastic band around the waist...ones that goes all the way above the tummy.

Every woman's different and if your jeans are making you feel uncomfortable, then maybe it's time to get maternity jeans. Wear whatever's comfortable for you because the worst thing you want is squeezing into jeans that are so tight - both you and your baby needs room to grow and breathe.

You don't have to go straight for maternity pants.

I bought a belly band or belly brights on ebay, It is a piece of material that you can where over your unbuttoned pants or unzipped pants even to keep them from falling off. Or wear them with your maternity pants that aren't going to quite stay up. My sister used a rubber band to hold her regular jeans up when she was pg with her first but that was a long time ago and I like the feel of the belly band.

When on it just looks like another shirt underneath the shirt your wearing.
Good Luck!

When mine got like that...I got the little extenders that you can get at Motherhood Maternity...it worked!! That store is great and once you start showing places like Old Navy and Target have great Maternity clothes as well. Congratulations!

Your just bloated.
You can:
1- get a larger size pants
2- go try on some maternity pants, see if you find a pair that work for you, (underbelly fits might!)
3- get a bella band (google it if you don't know what this is )

There is no rule when you can or can't wear maternity pants, whatever you are most comfy with.
